Sun Moon Yoga opens door to deeper dimensions of training for athletes and dancers.
Yoga is non-competitive and non-appearance-based. This makes yoga an excellent refuge from psychological demands of intensely competitive performance, whether sport or dance. Sun Moon Yoga teachers have been fortunate to train with: Minnesota State University Men’s and Women’s Swim teams; MSU Women’s Hockey and Volleyball teams. Also, presenting to Theatre & Dance majors at MSU, Gustavus Adolphus College, Dance Conservatory of Southern Minnesota and West High School girls physical education.
Yoga techniques are used to improve: Flexibility, strength, power, focus, balance, concentration, alignment, coordination and recuperation. Yoga breathing exercises are used to increase oxygen uptake. Meditation, guided visualizations allow athletes, and performers, to harness the power of the mind. Information on benefits of yoga for athletes, and dancers, is widely available, as are plentiful examples of well-known professionals who include it in training.
While it is the goal of improved performance that brings athletes and dancers to the mat, it is the benefits of yoga for recuperation, to prevent and heal injuries that makes it invaluable. Sun Moon teachers work with: Individuals or teams; single presentation or longer training. Please contact Mona Ceniceros (507) 387-6600, for more information. Yoga classes recommended for athletes: Sun Moon Fit Yoga, Ashtanga & Power Yoga and Restorative Yoga.
